I had the biggest scare of my life today! Usually when I let Lexi out I let her go potty and then she likes to sniff around so I let her hang out for a little while. We don't have a fence but she always stays in our yard and when she is ready to come in, she waits patiently by the back door. I know, too good to be true right?? Well, on this day - no. I went to let her in and she was nowhere to be found. I called her name ... no Lexi. I knew something was up because even if she isn't in the yard she always comes running as soon as we call her. I put Chase in the car and we drove all around our neighborhood while I was yelling her name. I also drove up and down the main streets, through all the neighborhoods near us, and through the other main roads branching off the main road. When I couldn't find her, I started to panic. I managed to stay calm for a little while just sort of knowing we would find her but when I had looked everywhere and especially when she didn't respond to me calling her name, I started to really freak out. I returned home and Ramon called. I was standing in my driveway on the phone holding Chase when someone started to drive past our street and then stopped, backed up, and pulled up to my house. She said, "Are you the owner of a Golden Retriever?" I screamed, "YES! DO YOU HAVE HER???" She told me she had her but she found her on the main road just sniffing and wandering around so she decided to pick her up. She took her to the Humane Society and they told her they would take Lexi but if no one claimed her in 72 hours they would put her asleep so the lady said "No way, I'll take her". (thank goodness!) I knew someone had to have picked her up because in the 30 minutes she was outside she couldn't have wandered that far especially since it usually takes her 10 minutes or so to go potty. Anyway, Lexi is home safely and I am so relieved!!! She is such an important part of our family and the possibility of something happening to her would be a tragedy. But we are happy to have her back!!!

Oh my goodness I am so happy you found her! I totally understand and relate to a dog feeling like a part of your family! I'm so happy she's home. It saddens me how the Humane Society gives such little time; it makes me angry actually; I have a hard time with the Humane Society. But luckily you don't have to worry about it anymore!
Phew! I totally know that horrible feeling when your sweet dog is missing. How wonderful that someone found her and then found you! What a blessing.
