Home Improvements Cont'd

This has been Ramon's little "summer" project. He still has some detail work to finish but what he did was he cut out the wall in the coat closet under the stairs and completely opened up and rebuilt that space! We decided it would make a perfect little playroom (and a perfect place to store all Chase's toys). I can't believe how great it turned out. This is Ramon's first time doing something like this completely on his own. From start to finish he cut out the wall, removed existing support studs and reinforced it with headers in order to open up the space. He added new wiring for lighting and outlets and installed acoustic installation to dampen the noise level. Then he installed recessed lighting, put up the sheet rock, mudded and sanded several times, primed it, painted it, and laid down the carpet! It was a very inexpensive project considering it added about 60 extra square feet of space! We love it and Chase already loves to go in and close the door and play in there. We are thinking of throwing a bean bag and a small DVD/TV combo in there. Here are some shots of the before, middle and after!

These first 3 are basically what it looked like when he first cut through the wall - 2 x 4's and wires everywhere!

After he opened it up and installed insulation, outlets and lighting
Mudding and sanding

What you see when you open the coat closet now!
Painted and carpeted!

Wow! That was fast Ramon! It looks great, that is really impressive from when we saw it when he had first started! I bet Chase loves having his own little space to go to!
